Lancaster Tennis Club held the finals of their men’s and ladies singles tournaments on Sunday.

After a fantastic men’s match Eden Parkinson beat 2013 champion Nick Higham.

Saving two match points, Eden won 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 after more than three hours of play.

Last year’s ladies champion, Sandra Eccles, beat Susan Lucas in the other final with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 performance.

Sandra plays singles for the Lancashire Ladies veterans team and her better all-round game was on display in this match.

The day before, the club’s Mixed A team had played St Annes in the final of the Fylde Club Knock Out competition, losing narrowly to their very strong squad.

The mixed doubles pair won their match, but both the ladies doubles and men’s doubles pairs lost after very close three-set matches.

This brings to an end a very successful match season for the club, for both adults and juniors, with league wins in the Fylde Junior, Lancaster Mixed Doubles and Lancaster Junior leagues.
