Morecambe Community High School played host to this year’s Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Individual Championships.

Trimpell Raptors’ Paul Stebbing retained his Premier Division title after victory in a high-quality final against the University’s number one player Alex Tyson.

The top tier doubles saw Trimpell’s Ray Carr and Phil Goymer battle their way to the final but they had to give second best to University star players Xio Collins and Tyson.

In the Championship singles Nathan Beamer hit top form to defeat his Morecambe club college Matthew Cooke in the final to claim his first senior title.

The Championship doubles saw Cooke reverse the singles result when he and his partner Adam Ordonez defeated Aiden Branch and Beamer in a tight final.

Ordonez claimed his second trophy of the event in the Handicap Singles when he won the final against the University’s David Bruce.

Ray Carr appeared in his second final of the tournament in the Premier Division Plate but lost to David Gott in a highly competitive section.

Primary School pupil and rising star Matthew Westworth won the Championship Plate from University’s Josh Ackroyd.

In the league, University A have won the Premier Division title from last year’s winners Trimpell Raptors in second place.

Morecambe A with teenagers, Matthew Cooke, Aiden Branch and Nathan Beamer, have won the title and promotion along with Second place Morecambe B with Adam Ordonez as captain.
