The under 11s Great Wood team of Genevieve Holchaks, Rachel Lister, Zoe Grime, Eve Clement and Jess Loxam won their opening match 7-1 as they dominated Barnes Primary School from London before producing a similarly convincing performance to see off Hull’s Victoria Dock School, 8-0.

The girls next saw off the champions of Somerset, Enmore Academy, with their second 7-1 victory to set up a title decider against London’s Fox School who had beaten the other three teams by the same scoreline.

It was a tight game as expected and went right down to the wire, Eve winning the final game 2-0 to ensure the match ended 4-4 with Great Wood crowned national champions on set count back, 10-8.

The LGGS team of Megan and Alice Dillon, Naomi Collins, Aakanskha Tripathi and Sruthi Rajakarier started the defence of their title in style with wins over Devon’s Okehampton College, 7-1, and West Kirkby Grammar School, 6-2.

As with Great Wood this set up a winner takes all final match with LGGS taking on London’s Burlington Danes Academy.

It was a far smoother passage for the Grammar girls. who won 7-1 to make it back-to-back national titles.
