Barbarians have extended their lead at the top of the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Championship Division.

The trio of Ken Riley, Mike White and Keith Robertson gave their promotion bid a boost with a win at 3-1-5.

White won man of the match with three singles victories and partnered Barbarians captain Riley in winning the doubles from Mark Wiggins and Barry Dobson.

Morecambe CHS Aces have recovered from a poor start to the season and notched up a 28-7 win at home to St Lukes.

Matthew Cooke and James Rawlinson took the match honours by winning their individual singles sets and won the doubles against Nathan Beamer and Brian Gourlay.

Abhinav Sinha won man of the match for Morecambe in their 21-14 victory against Garstang Eliminators.

Sinha was well supported by Hudson Nuttall and Ken Richardson. Jacob Bywater and John Allen made the match score respectable by winning the doubles.

In the Premier Division Garstang Cowboys beat Trimpell Dragons 21-14 in a fine derby match between two evenly matched mid-table teams.

Man of the match Mike Charters proved to be the difference between the teams with a 100 per cent match record including winning the final set 3-0 against the Dragons’ number one player Daniel Welbourne.

Welbourne and Dereck Metcalf combined to win the doubles against rising stars Owen Bendall and Tommy Kennedy.
