CENTON Ryu Karate Academy had a grading on May 3 taken by their chief instructor Carol Gaston 4th Dan.

It was a very good grading overall and the club said it was pleased with the results.

Best attendance (56 sessions in 13 weeks): Jacob Constable.

Best grading: Stephanie Blackhurst.

Best technique: Saffron Wood.

Most effort: Callum Lord.

10th–9th kyu: Grace Wood, Saffron Wood, Katie Winn (three bars), Jake Wetherall, Lee Wetherall, Sean Healey.

9th–8th kyu: Charlie Pearcy (two bars), Ellie Browning (three bars), Liam McEvoy. 8th-7th kyu: Maddison Craven, Spencer Pearcy.

7th-6th kyu: Nigel Browning (temp).

6th-5th kyu: Joshua Lund, Stephanie Blackhurst.

5th-4th kyu: Callum Lord, Sophie Andrews. 3rd-2nd kyu: Alistair Edwards.

Training venues are St Martin’s Church Hall, Westgate, Morecambe, at either 7pm to 9pm costing £4 or 7pm to 10pm costing £5 on Tuesdays and Fridays respectively.

There is also a session at Christ Church, Broadway, Morecambe, from 7pm to 9pm on Mondays costing £4.
