LANCASTER visited defending champions Leyland and but went down to defeat by five wickets in the only game of the day that was not interrupted by rain.
Lancaster’s captain Michael Stevens batted throughout his side’s innings of 147-5, making an unbeaten 72 off 133 balls with six fours.
Brett Pelser bowled superbly to take 3-38 off 16 overs with skipper David Makinson producing a typically miserly spell to concede just 27 runs from 15 overs.
Tim Barry and Ben Simm each took two wickets for the visitors and Leyland were wobbling at 96-5, Luis Reece making a fluent 34 until adjudged leg before to Barry.
But pro Pelser (38 not out) steered his side home in partnership with James Rounding (18 not out).
