Morecambe got the better of Preston in their final Twenty20 group game on Monday night.

The sides beat the wet weather at Woodhill Lane to get in a 10-over game, the hosts posting 113-3 batting first.

Most of the runs came at the top of the order with professional Saeed Anwar Jnr blasting an unbeaten 55 and Lewis Edge making 26.

In reply Preston came up 16 runs short, finishing on 97-6 as Eddy Read and Gareth Pedder both took two wickets.
The result leaves Morecambe top of the Lukey’s Sports North 2 group with Lancaster needing a big win over Preston on Friday night in the final game to depose them and seal a place at finals day at Fleetwood Cricket Club.
