LANCASTER U15s defeated their Carlisle counterparts to become area champions in the Natwest U15 Championship.
Lancaster travelled north on Sunday, July 3, and after losing the toss were asked to bat first.
Openers Tom Williamson and Scott Abraham made a cautious but solid start reaching 19 before Abraham was bowled by C Blyth in the fifth over.
Williamson was joined by Bill Swarbrick and together they continued the steady start running well between the wickets before opening up and stroking the ball to all parts of the ground.
Their stand of 81 was only broken with Williamson retiring on 53 in the 14th over with the score on 100.
Swarbrick and Adam Gardner continued scoring at a run a ball before Swarbrick was bowled by A Bie for 36 in the 17th over.
Gardner and Steven Armstrong between them carried on picking up quick singles and Lancaster’s 138-2 looked like a commanding score.
Carlisle’s reply got off to a bad start, Armstrong removing L Fuller in the second over with the score on one.
C Manchester and J Spencer shared a partnership of 22 before Manchester became Armstrong’s second victim.
