Lancaster’s water polo stars helped England’s men and women to gold at the Commonwealth Water Polo Championships in Aberdeen.
Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo Club’s Tom Curwen was the star for the men scoring five goals in the 16-9 win over Malta in Saturday’s final.
Ciaran James and Glen Robinson were also in fine form for their country as England ended the week-long tournament unbeaten.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, having lost their gold medal dress rehersal to Canada 9-8 on Thursday, Katie Hesketh and England women’s got revenge with a 10-9 victory to take the title.
England seemed to be cruising at 10-5 but had to survive a nervy conclusion to win gold.
