Lancaster University played host to a decisive weekend of British Water Polo League action on Saturday and Sunday.

The sports centre was the venue for the men’s Championship 2 and 3 deciders as end of season honours were handed out.

Highlights included Carlisle making certain of the men’s Championship 2 title by defeating City of Birmingham 14-12 on Saturday.

Solihull and Worthing took the other two promotion spots in the division while York City were crowned winners of Championship 3.

Chris Stephens, the British Water Polo League’s Match Secretary, said: “We are always keen to find new venues for our league tournaments, and Lancaster University’s new pool was the perfect setting for our Men’s Championship 2 and 3 decider event.

“Winning teams Carlisle and York City were full of praise for the venue and the friendly and helpful pool staff.”
