Torrisholme Cricket Club are preparing for the 2016 season where the first XI will play in the Palace Shield Premier Division after promotion last year.

Long-serving skipper Matt Jackson is hoping to field an even stronger team this year.

With some quality players coming through the junior section and maybe a couple of more experienced recruits his squad should be very capable of competing strongly, the second XI should also benefit from the strength in depth.

The club will again be running a Sunday XI in the Palace Shield Sunday Competition with the intention of blooding younger players and giving those who don’t get a Saturday berth a good quality game of cricket.

Senior indoor nets are at LRGS from 7pm to 8pm on Sundays 14, 21, 28 February and 13, 20, 27 March. All current and potential players are invited to attend, including those juniors who played senior cricket in 2015.

The junior section continues to progress with the addition to the coaching strength of experienced former Northern League batsman Iain Parkinson.

The club plans to run two under 11 teams plus one team each at under 13, under 15 and under 18 as last year.

This year the club are also hoping for more friendlies at under 9 level and will be running an all girls squad.

The club is still seeking a main shirt sponsor and any business interested in showing their support can contact Hon. Chair Mark Drinkall on 07738 252449.
