Lancaster Nomads 1 were the latest team to succumb to top of the table Leyland and Chorley in the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey Association, losing 1-0.

Leyland scored the only goal of the game with a close range finish shortly after player of the match Helen Stanley had hit the post for Lancaster.

Nomads defended well throughout the game, preventing the pacey Leyland attack from scoring again.

Despite this loss Nomads reach the half way point of the season in a strong third.

Meanwhile, Lancaster Nomads 2nds were held to a 1-1 draw with Garstang 3rds.

Lancaster Nomad striker Amy Monkhouse’s persistence saw her go through and she slotted in a brilliant goal.

Garstang kept on pushing but the defence kept them out, Joanne Banks having a superb game on the right.

The second half saw the Nomads once again pushing for goal but an error in the defence saw Garstang slot in a tidy goal making the score 1 - 1.
