Lancaster welcomed City of York to their home ground to play what proved to be a pure Battle of the Roses.
From the starting whistle Lancaster broke York’s defence with a counter attack from Ali Standeven, who saw Nina Klinge calmly slot away Lancaster’s first goal within minutes.
York however were positive to respond, equalising instantly.
Again Lancaster took the lead, scoring two goals before half time, both finished well by Standeven.
Irrespective of Lancaster’s solid defensive performance York were very fortunate to receive two penalty corners which were converted.
The final stages saw Lancaster dominating and Nicola Benson finally broke the struggling York defence to slot home a well-earned victory.
