THE district’s top mixed martial arts fighter is bidding for title glory this weekend.

Carl Noon, co-owner of Morecambe’s MMA Centre on White Lund Avenue, is looking to become the first ever British Association of Mixed Martial Arts (BAMMA) Middleweight Champion at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham this Saturday, September 10.

Noon who has a record of seven fights and one win, is looking for his eighth win in a row against Gwent’s Jack Marshman at the event, BAMMA 7.

Noon, who has around 100 fans from the area travelling to the event, said: “I fought for BAMMA last year but this is my biggest fight to date.

“I’m pretty confident of beating him and coming away with the title, but this is MMA so anything can happen.”

On Marshman, he said: “He was in the Army so I’m sure he’s pretty fit but he’s not ready for what I’m going to bring.”

Noon made his BAMMA debut in May of last year at BAMMA 3, where he defeated Mike Ling via first round submission with a rear-naked choke.
