It was a largely disappointing day for Lancaster’s hockey teams on Saturday.

Coach Ian Hunter saw the first team slip to 5-4 home defeat to North Hockey Women’s League Premier Division leaders Liverpool Sefton.

The second team were the only victors at the weekend, winning 3-1 at Southport 1s.

Lancaster 3s were held to a goalless draw by Blackpool Ladies 2s on home soil while the fourth team lost 1-0 at second in the table Clitheroe Ladies 3s.

Both sides had chances in an enterprising end to end game before Clitheroe took the lead from a short corner.

Despite the best efforts of the game’s stand out players Harriet Price and Alice Tidswell Lancaster couldn’t find an equaliser despite forcing a number of short corners.

Lancaster’s fifth team lost 2-0 at home to Chorley and Leyland 2s.

The visitors took an early lead which they held until half-time. Lancaster had a golden chance in the second half through an Aly Warburton penalty flick but they couldn’t make the breakthrough as Chorley doubled their advantage to seal the victory.

Lancaster over 35s lost 6-4 at home to their Sale counterparts.
