Lancaster kept their fine unbeaten run going in the GMC Super League Division One with victory at Heywood.
Colin Walker’s city side have not lost since the second game of the season after the 6-4 triumph in Greater Manchester.
Billy Kirkby got the game started in fine fashion, winning the first leg, but then lost his way as Scott Howarth took the next three to give the home team an early lead.
Dave Speak soon made it 1-1 by beating Aaron Boyle, despite the Heywood man hitting a maximum 180 in the second leg.
Greg Pickson restored the home team’s advantage by beating Graham Rawes but superior finishing helped ‘Dangerous’ David Coulton level things up at 2-2.
Phil Raby then put Lancaster ahead for the first time in the match but the advantage was to be short lived as Josh Howarth beat Martin McLaughlin by the odd leg in five.
Chris Longhorn then gave the visitors the edge as he won comfortably against Shaun Gill but Kev Beare was then beaten by an on-song Billy Brooks who recorded an average of 75.68.
Matt Raby, standing in because of work commitments, proved that he was equal to the task a he whitewashed Paul Langford 3-0.
And it was a case of cometh the hour cometh the man as Lancaster saved the best until last as captain Chris Stobbart put in a man of the match winning performance against John Kelly to give Lancaster the victory.
