Shireshead Junior Cricket Club has ended the season on a high.

Last week they won the U14 Cup final, beating Westgate by five runs.

Callum Danson’s four wickets for six runs proved crucial in a closely fought contest.

On Sunday, in a day of cricket league finals hosted by Netherfield CC, the U10s were runners-up to Kendal, losing by 15 runs, but Shireshead U14s overcame Netherfield thanks to some tight bowling, especially by Mark Bevan, whose figures of 6-6-0-5 earned him a man of the match title.

Finally, in another low-scoring game, the U16 final, Kendal were frustrated by Shireshead’s disciplined bowling, Mark Bevan again making his mark, this time with three cheap wickets.

Despite a break for rain, Shireshead were able to clinch their second victory of the day.
