A cricketer met legends of the game including Mike Gatting and Michael Holding after being invited to a prestigious presentation at Lord’s.

Dylan Conroy, a Myerscough College Student who plays for Lancaster Cricket Club, took 5-20 while playing for Myerscough’s Cricket Academy against the MCC last season leading to an invite to be a special guest at the First Test between England and Sri Lanka.

The 19-year-old, who was accompanied by his father and brother on the trip, was treated to breakfast before watching the game from the MCC’s executive box.

A three-course meal then followed before Dylan and the rest of the invited guests got to watch some more of the game from the world famous Long Room, rubbing shoulders with players from both sides before heading onto the pitch to be presented with his award.

Dylan, who has also played club cricket for Westgate, said: “About a dozen of us were invited along, all of whom had performed well in games against the MCC.

“It was a great day. We had a great view from our seats in their private box and we were really well looked after.

“It was amazing to be invited into the pavilion and into the Long Room, where the players walked past us on their way in for tea.

“It was an unreal experience. My favourite parts of the day were receiving the award from Mike Gatting and meeting Michael Holding.”
