Dave Chisnall slipped to a 7-5 defeat to Gary Anderson in round four of the Betway Premier League Darts in Glasgow on Thursday night.
The Scot got the better of a tight match on home soil in front of a packed house at the SSE Hydro leaving Morecambe’s world number five eighth in the table with just one win from his four matches.
The game swung on the seventh leg with Anderson breaking the Chisnall throw for the first time for 4-3 before holding his nerve to seal a final leg victory on tops.
Anderson hit the game’s opening 180 in the first leg but Chisnall held on double 11 after a pair of 140s.
The Morecambe man then put the home favourite under pressure in leg two but Anderson hit double 16 on the first dart to level things up.
Chisnall then handled the boos of the Scottish crowd with a big dart to take out double 18 at the third attempt for 2-1 before missing a bull to take out 161 in leg four allowing Anderson to bring it back to 2-2.
Chisnall held again for 3-2 before Anderson’s 170 checkout raised the roof for 3-3.
Then came the crucial seventh leg with Chisnall only hitting 100 needing 156 which allowed the Scot to break before he held his throw for a 5-3 lead.
A pair of 140s then helped reduced the arrears to one for Chisnall but Anderson hit back with a 180 to make sure of at least a point at 6-4.
Chisnall then ensured the game went to the final leg with a maximum of his own before a 41 checkout.
Anderson controlled the 12th and deciding leg with two 140s and with Chisnall lurking on 132 held his nerve to take out tops.
