The very best bowlers in the country will attend the eighth running of the Invitation 32 at Lune Road Cricket and Bowls Club on Saturday, August 16.

The event, sponsored by Builders Supplies (West Coast Ltd) and many other local companies, offers one of the largest prize funds in the country with a £3,300 total kitty.

Most of the top ten ranked bowlers will be tackling the tricky Lune Road green including Gary Ellis, Graeme Wilson, Callum Wraight, Wayne Ditchfield and Chris Brown.

They will be joined by some of the legends of the game such as Tommy Johnstone, Chris MacDonald and Mike Leach.

Top ranked Kendal pair Ian Nicholson and Martin Gilpin also take their place, as do three local bowlers in David Liley, Alan Gilpin and David Gratehead.

David Liley plays for the fourth year running after his strong showing in the competition. Alan qualifies through his claiming of the Visitor Cup a few weeks ago and Dave Gratehead by winning the Thwaites Trophy in June.

The local bowlers representing Lancaster and Morecambe always appreciate the support of their fellow crown greeners and the travelling stars always enjoy playing in front of a good crowd.

Everybody involved is sure to get a warm welcome from all the members of the Lune Road Bowling Club.
