GALGATE entertained division newcomers and in-form team Arnside A in search of their first win of the season.

After the morning rainfall, winning the toss would prove to be crucial.

With the visiting skipper choosing incorrectly, Galgate skipper Morgan immediately opted to field looking to exploit the conditions.

An opening stand of 36 within the first eight overs was achieved with the ball evading the fielders at regular intervals to the despair of the home team.

When T Speak (4-29) bowled B Till (16), Galgate increased the pressure and when Cooper (2-25) bowled fellow opener Barber (24), Arnside went into free fall.

A direct run out from Saunders and tight bowling from Cooper and Speak soon left Arnside 44-5.

Hayward (11) and C Till looked to steady the ship with a partnership of 14 until the former was caught in the slips.
