Lancaster’s rising mixed martial arts star has been handed a major title opportunity.

Shay Walsh will take on BAMMA Bantamweight champion Ed Arthur at the company’s BAMMA 23 ‘Night of Champions’ show at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on November 14.

The pair had a frank exchange of views on social media after the Lancaster man’s third-round stoppage win over the previously unbeaten Gaz Pilot at the same venue back in June on his bantamweight debut.

The much-anticipated match has now been made with Walsh hoping to pick up a major title as he targets the biggest fights at home and abroad.

He said: “I’m looking forward to this one, we both bring a big crowd so I think the noise will be deafening.

“I’ll be bringing a world title back to Lancaster.”

The Lancaster and Morecambe MMA fighter, 13-3 as a pro, is currently out in Thailand training at the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai gym.

Undefeated Arthur, 6-0, will be defending his title for the first time with Walsh set to provide the sternest test of his career so far.

The fight is set to be shown on freeview channel Spike TV.
