Lancaster juniors star on home soil with hat-trick of gold medals

City of Lancaster Triathlon juniors were out in force at the Salt Ayre Duathlon,

With 120 athletes registered from across the region the competition was tough but COLT juniors took three golds with 11-year-old Rhys Ashton dominating the field in Tristar 2.

Ronan Maher, eight, won a super sprint finish in the Tristart category while Georgia Hannam, fresh from a superb result in London, confirmed her lead in the overall junior championship.

There were silvers in Tristar 3 for Hannah Edwards, 14, in the girls race and Shea Hannam in the boys.

William Howard, 15, also made it on to the podium with bronze in the youth race.

There were also fine performances from Harry Shaw, Lydia-Louise Shenton, Ruby Frankland, Thomas Dowthwaite, Jake Edwards, Amelie Earnshaw, Zach Earnshaw, Archie Honeysett, Niamh Barsley-Ryan, Pippa Darlington and Kirsty Maher.
