Lancaster City mastered the art of winning ugly on Saturday but got there through a thing of beauty.
A touch of class from Darren Green in the second half set up Lee Dodgson for a back-post header to settle this scrappy, physical and at times downright awful game.
The victory makes it three wins on the spin for the Dolly Blues for the first time this season and means they maintain a fantastic unbeaten start to 2013.
The familiarity of back-to-back fixtures with the Yorkshire outfit bred more than contempt as tit-for-tat fouls and aggression punctuated bitty play.
The visitors were fairly obvious with their approach and got a bit of joy with their aerial assault; were it not for a pair of tremendous saves from Danny McDonald they could have gone it at the break ahead.
With striker Adam Muller breaking the offside trap and bearing down on him the former Fylde stopper stayed big and calm before diving to his right to make a strong-armed save.
Then he smashed his previous best with a terrific flying save again to his right to tip a header wide of his post.
A heavy pitch made life difficult for both sides and in praise of the Dolly Blues they defended well in a first-half were they came under a lot of pressure.
Had the final ball been a bit sharper, the movement in the box a bit keener and the central midfield more composed City would have found this a comfortable outing.
As it was it took a moment of sheer brilliance to light up this game coming out of nothing on the 69 minute mark.
Going nowhere heavily marked by the right corner flag Green showed fleet footwork to beat one man then dropped a shoulder and glided past two more.
He kept his cool and chipped a pin-point cross to the back post where the run of Dodgson was timed perfectly to meet it and head back past Jody Barford in the Ossett net.
City showed their current strength in depth by bringing on former Morecambe players Aaron Taylor and Gavin Clark to bolster their side and the duo made a difference with extra physicality and presence.
Taylor had a half chance to double the score with a volley from range that went wide.
The Dolly Blues now hit the road for ties against Radcliffe Borough and Prescot Cables as they look to keep up their winning streak.
