There was success for The Loyne School in Lancaster and Morecambe Road School in Heysham at the SPAR Lancashire School Games Disability Swimming Gala event.

Approximately 250 primary and secondary school pupils from across Lancashire met at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre in Lancaster on March 19 to compete at the event, which forms part of the SPAR Lancashire School Games.

The SPAR Lancashire School Games is organised by the Lancashire Local Organising Committee (LOC) and sponsored by James Hall and Company Ltd, the SPAR distributors for the North of England.

Young sports leaders from Our Lady’s Catholic College and Heysham High School helped out at the swimming event while Our Lady’s Year 9 dancers performed in the gala’s opening ceremony.

Both Loyne and Morecambe Road School achieved victory at the event and both school teams left the event with gold, silver and bronze medals.

Medal wins included Morecambe Road taking the top spot in five of the Key Stage 3 Girls’ events; the 25m front crawl, 25m breaststroke, 25m backstroke, 50m front crawl and the 25m freestyle relay event.

Loyne’s wins included the boys’ team taking the top spot in the Key Stage 4 25m backstroke event.
