It's Marsh or Highgrove

There will be new champions of the Premier Division this season following the 3-2 defeat of reigning champions Storeys to Highgrove which means they or Marsh United will lift the title.

Storeys got off to a flying start with a 2-0 half-time lead thanks to goals from Steve Stirzaker and Liam Jeffrey. But the second half saw a change for Storeys as Adam Airey took over in goal.

Highgrove raised their game and came roaring at Storeys, who then suffered further as Stirzaker had to go off injured leaving his side with 10 men as they had no more subs.

Highgrove capitalised and Scott King scored from close in after Airey had made a terrific save then Alan Tyson levelled from just outside the area.

It appeared that Storeys would survive until Highgrove were awarded a stoppage time penalty which Luke Ogley scored.

Highgrove then went top on Monday night with a 6-1 victory over relegated Swarthmoor.

Ingleton also dropped out of contention with a disappointing 2-1 loss to a weakened Cartmel.

Marsh are now second on goal difference behind Highgrove. They won on Saturday, 4-0 against Halton Rangers with Lee Sparks plundering all four goals.

Morecambe Hoops finally made certain of Premier Division football next season when they beat Swarthmoor Social Club 3-1.

Bentham have almost clinched the Division One title after a 0-0 draw at Cartmel Reserves on Saturday and a 7-1 victory at relegated Grange on Monday.

Bowerham are promoted and can still win the title with two games to play against Marsh United Reserves and Morecambe Royals Reserves.

Storeys Reserves moved into third place after comfortably beating bottom team Grange 4-0.

An incredible game saw Ingleton Reserves draw 4-4 with College AFC while Millhead beat Morecambe Royals Reserves 4-3.

Bolton-le-Sands are Division Two champions after beating Furness Rovers by a single goal scored by Alex Batson.

Freehold FC are promoted despite losing 1-0 to Overton with Peter Marin on target while Arnside beat relegated Galgate Reserves 2-0.

The race for the Division Three title is still on going with three teams still in with a chance after leaders Halton Rangers Reserves drew 1-1 with Squires in third on Monday night.

Allithwaite Rangers are second with a game left and beat Carnforth Rangers Reserves 1-0 on Monday in the Fairclough/ Woodruff/ Parkinson/ Collegian Cup final.

Squires are title favourites as they have two games to go, both against Grange Reserves.

There is another battle to avoid relegation with Arnside Reserves, Bolton-le-Sands Reserves, Grange Reserves and possibly Boys Club Reserves all in the fight.

In Division Four, Morecambe Gold are promoted after beating Millhead Reserves 2-0. Moghuls need four points from two games to take second, with Highgrove Colts still in contention.
