Heysham Atoms’ first-team coach is delighted with his side’s free-scoring start to the season.

The Trimpell side sit second in the North West Men’s League Division One having racked up 150 points in their last three games.

Coach Andrew Helme said: “We’ve been playing really well.

“We’ve scored something like 150 points in the last three games.

“The attacking side of our game is looking really good.”

The first team have a week off this Saturday but the club’s second string host Runcorn at the Trimpell.

It is also another busy weekend for the Atoms’ youth sides with the under 11s playing their first ever game.

And with thriving under 13 and under 18 sides things are looking good for the future of the Heysham Atoms.

Helme said: “The under 18s are training with the open age lads and we’re trying to bring through as many as possible.

“We’ve got around 30 for training most nights and that’s a mixture of first, second and under 18 lads. It means everyone is fighting for places.”
