Billy Livingstone’s 14-point haul helped Heysham Atoms overcome Wigan St Judes in their first home game of the new season.
On a perfect day for rugby league The Atoms took the lead when hooker and man of the match Livingstone scooped the ball up and grounded it under the sticks.
His kick was successful to put the Atoms 6-0 up.
St Judes’ hit back immediately when their stand-off stepped out of a couple of tackles to squeeze in at the corner, making the score 6-4.
Five minutes later St Judes struck again when their speedy full back raced in under the posts to put his side 6-10 up.
After making great yards up the field Al Crookall then scored his first of the day, with Livingstone converting, taking Heysham Atoms into 12-10 half-time lead.
Full back Jake Harrison was next to score in the corner, and Livingstone’s conversion was slotted over from the touch line.
Livingstone gratefully accepted another penalty kick, and Mark Walker then scored and with Billy once more converting.
With the last play of the game, Walker fired a long pass out to Al Crookall who reached out to score again with Livingstone converting, capping off a fine display for both himself and his team.
