Hat-trick for Lancaster Tennis Club juniors

Lancaster Tennis Club's juniors have been in fine form.

The Division One squad had a 5-1 win over Hambleton at Lune Road on Saturday to go 18 points clear at the top of the table.

Elliot Gardner and Dan Main had comfortable singles and doubles wins and young Joel McAllister, making his debut, teamed up with Oliver MacNeil in a crucial doubles win.

Lancaster now only need one point from their last two matches to clinch the title.

On Sunday, the Division Two squad earned the 5-1 win that they needed against St Chads to make the title certain.

Adam Hill clinched the crucial fifth win after an epic tie break and there were also wins for Joseph Hester, Oliver MacNeil and Matthew Cross.

Elsewhere the Under 14 squad of Owen Cross, Filip Stuchlik, Lewi Mackenzie and Jolyon Troughton travelled won 6-0 at Wrea Green to consolidate fourth place.

Lancaster Tennis Club is holding an open day as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend on Sunday, July 17, between 2pm and 4pm.

The event on Lune Road is for both adults and juniors, aged five upwards, and is free. Balls and racquets provided and the club can cater for wheelchair players. Call 07771 734920 or email [email protected].
