Only two games beat the weather in the West Lancashire Premier Division as both Slyne-with-Hest and Garstang were made to wait for their first games of the new year.

Slyne’s trip to Thornton Cleveleys on Saturday was postponed with Garstang’s game at Longridge Town also called off.

Slyne’s cancellation means the eighth-placed side have not played since the 1-1 draw at Charnock Richard on December 14 after their clash at home to Burnley United was called off on December 21.

They are due to host Tempest United this Saturday, January, 11 while their reserve side travel to Poulton in the division two reserve league.

Garstang on the other hand are also eager to get back to action with their last outing a 3-2 victory at Thornton Cleveleys on December 14.

Iain Swan’s side welcome Blackpool Wren Rovers to the Riverside this Saturday.

Their second string are due to travel to Fulwood Amateurs Reserves.

In the only two games that weren’t called off, Coppull United were 2-0 winners over Euxton Villa and Tempest United beat Norcross and Warbreck 3-2.
