Despite racing into a three goal lead inside 35 minutes Slyne-with-Hest lost a thrilling game 5-4 against Hesketh Bank on Saturday.
Danny Dixon opened the scoring for Slyne with a glancing header from a corner after 15 minutes before doubling his tally after 28 minutes.
Veteran striker Jimmy Love then rolled back the years with a stunning strike into the roof of the net from the edge of the penalty area to increase Slyne’s lead.
Hesketh Bank then got themselves back into the game minutes before half time when Josh Brierley’s shot found the bottom corner of the net and the game was level after 15 minutes of the restart.
A defensive mix up led to the visitors taking the lead after 68 minutes before a Jamie Hastings free kick levelled the score after 77 minutes.
With just two minutes remaining David Hogg slotted the ball into the net to give the visitors all three points in a highly entertaining encounter.
