Lancaster City lost their fourth game in a row on Saturday, falling 2-0 at promotion-chasing Ramsbottom United.
After an uninspiring first period, the home side took the lead just before the hour mark, Lee Gaskell finding himself unmarked in the box before firing past Dolly Blues ‘keeper Danny McDonald.
City nearly equalised shortly after but Rory Winters’ header was well-saved by Rammy stopper Grant Shenton low to his left. The play-off contenders doubled their lead however on 69 minutes, Grant Spencer beating McDonald with a low drive.
With a quarter of an hour to play Tom Kilifin nearly halved City’s arrears but his effort was cleared off the line.
Caretaker boss Mick Hoyle will hope his side can get back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik First Division North when they visit Ossett Town on Tuesday night.
