MORECAMBE manager Jim Bentley has signed goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou as number two to Barry Roche.
Arestidou, who has been training with the Shrimps of late, became a contracted player after impressing in training and during his appearances in pre-season. The locally-based stopper, who was with Blackburn Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and latterly Preston North End, has also represented England at Schools and under 18 level.
Morecambe supporters may well remember his penalty saves for Preston that knocked the Shrimps out of the Football League Trophy last season.
He will wear squad number 25.
Going out on loan to help his development is Dan Parkinson, who is returning to Vauxhall Motors, with whom he had a successful spell at the end of last season.
With Vauxhall having a hectic start to the season, and Morecambe’s reserve team not starting in the Central League until the end of August, Parkinson was keen to get some games under his belt.
The length of both deals is yet to be determined.
