IN the R M Fisher/Howson Remembrance Cup second round there was a close game as TIC Dynamos/Overton/Middleton Reserves just came out on top against a determined Highgrove Reserves, who performed well after last week’s woeful display.
Both sides were evenly matched and going into the latter stages Dynamos were winning 2-1 after Adam Nutt had scored twice and Callum Rogers had reduced the arrears for Highgrove.
With just minutes remaining a hard driven shot and an appeal for a goal by Highgrove was ruled out by the referee who said the ball did not cross the line.
In the third round Dynamos will travel to play Marsh United Reserves on March 3.
In the Premier Division a close match was played out at Quarry Park where the home side Carnforth Rangers were looking to go top when they entertained a much improved Galgate in fourth place.
The game was close throughout with both sides having plenty of possession and creating ample chances.
The only two chances taken were by Christian Needham for Carnforth and Lee Fox for Galgate.
Cartmel worked harder than Storeys to earn a good 3-0 win.
Cartmel played as well as they had done for weeks and fully deserved to win.
Goals by Graham Rhodes, Joel Drinkall and Matthew Dodwell won the game for Cartmel, Storeys hardly troubled the home keeper as Cartmel’s defence played at top of its game.
