POINTS are more important than performances, that’s the message from Lancaster City boss Tony Hesketh.
The Dolly Blues boss saw his side grind out a 1-0 victory over Radcliffe Borough on Saturday, thanks mainly to two penalty saves from goalkeeper Martin Fearon.
And despite the indifferent performance Hesketh said he is more concerned about the end result rather than the performance as his side look to stay in the hunt for the Evo-Stik First Division North play-offs.
He said: “We were indebted to Martin Fearon for two great penalty saves on Saturday. He will admit himself that they were perhaps two errors of judgement on his part but he redeemed himself.
“I was only interested in the three points. I wasn’t bothered how we got them as long as we got them.
“It was an unconvincing performance but the result is all that matters. We’re at the stage of the season where it’s more about the points than the performances.”
