Lancaster City failed to gain revenge for their FA Trophy exit against Mossley on Tuesday night.
The Dolly Blues slipped to their second defeat in four days at Seel Park, losing in the league this time around.
Dougie Carroll and John Bennett put the home side well in command before Simon Wearing pulled a goal back 25 minutes from time but it wasn’t enough to drag City back into the game as they slipped to their second league defeat of the season.
Darren Peacock’s side had started the game brightly.
Tom Ince found himself clean through early in proceedings but could only slice his effort over.
Neil Marshall then fired over from six yards after the ball had reached him from a corner before Danny Mahoney headed over a Ryan Elderton cross.
The hosts went ahead on 29 minutes however.
Gavin Clark was dispossessed on the half way line and Carroll completed a swift counter attack as Mossley got their noses in front.
City felt their was more than a hint of offside about the goal and the visitors had more grievances with referee Peter Sporne when Marshall appeared to be caught by a two-footed lunge from goal scorer Carroll and their penalty appeals were waved for a Mossley handball from a corner shortly after.
After the break, the Dolly Blues’ stand out player Ryan Winder had the best chance to equalise, but pulled his shot wide when in one-on-one with Russ Saunders.
The hosts made City pay and doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half as Bennett scored from another Mossley counter attack.
Former Morecambe youngster Wearing did reduce the arrears on 65 minutes, finishing neatly into the bottom corner from just inside the box.
But it turned out just to be a consolation as City created little in their search for a point.
