The 24-year-old holds the Dolly Blues record for most goals in a season, netting 38 in the 2009-2010 season which saw him secure a move to Crewe Alexandra.

He has however struggled with injuries since and after nearly rejoining City in the summer of 2012 he spent a season with Workington Reds before joining Kendal in the summer.

Connerton has scored six goals in five appearances for the Mintcakes this season but is currently recovering from a groin operation.

City hope he can feature for the reserves against Stalybridge Celtic at Giant Axe on Thursday ahead of the trip to Farsley on Saturday.
