The Dolly Blues finally kick off their pre-season this weekend when they take on Garstang on Saturday.
The match, taking place on the 3G pitch at Lancaster University, is followed by a trip to Euxton Villa on Thursday for a 7:15pm kick off.
City, who usually begin their friendly fixtures in the first week of July, have had their schedule pushed back due to their Barbados adventures earlier this month.
The match on Saturday, which is free to attend for all supporters, is the first chance for head coach Darren Peacock to assess his squad ahead of the August 16 league kick off.
The Dolly Blues have had a quiet summer, with defender John Hardiker the only addition to the Lancaster ranks, but have been successful in retaining the key parts of last season’s squad which amassed an impressive 80 points.
Garry Hunter, Tom Kilifin and Mike Hale have all returned to the club, whilst veterans Neil Marshall, Ryan Elderton and Lee Dodgson are amongst those that have signed up for the new campaign.
The Dolly Blues’ all new academy side has its launch night on Monday night at Lancaster University’s Sports Centre at 7pm with all interested players, parents and coaches encouraged to attend.
The club were also hit by the news that defender Rob Henry is suffering from viral meningitis.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Lancaster City Football Club would like to pass on a get well soon message to Rob Henry.”
“Everyone involved with Lancaster City FC would like to wish Rob all the best, a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back at Giant Axe soon for our promotion push.”
