LANCASTER City boss Tony Hesketh said his team just “didn’t turn up” in their home defeat against Clitheroe on Boxing Day.

City were beaten 2-0 by a team who were placed 17th in the league and had only managed one away win prior to the game at Giant Axe on Monday.

“We’re very rarely lacklustre but for some reason we didn’t cause Clitheroe any problems,” said the Dolly Blues manager on Wednesday.

“Basically, we just didn’t turn up.

“There was no spark in any of our football, and too many players were below average.

“We’re still in the play-off places but we haven’t won for five games which is a slight worry to be honest.”
