LANCASTER City boss Tony Hesketh admitted his side had “lost their way” after they crashed out of the Lancashire FA Trophy against Wigan Robin Park on Tuesday night.
The Dolly Blues lost 4-2 at home to the North West Counties league side at a windy Giant Axe to exit the competition at the quarter-final stage.
Hesketh said: “For whatever reason we’ve lost our way over the last half dozen games. We’ve not been able to sustain a complete performance, we’ve played in patches.
“The most disappointing thing is the way we’ve been defending. We were watertight earlier in the season but over the last month we’ve been struggling to keep clean sheets.
“Once we equalised (against Wigan) I could only see one winner but we were unable to finish them off and paid a heavy price.”
