COLOURFUL Blackpool boss Ian Holloway was in attendance at the Giant Axe as Lancaster City defeated a strong Seasiders XI 3-1 on Monday evening.

Holloway watched new Pool signings, including former Manchester United winger Bojan Djordjic along with some youngsters, get swept aside by City thanks to goals from Zach Clark, Neil Marshall and Billy McKenna.

Centre-back Miguel Llera pulled one back for the side relegated from the Premier League last season scoring a brilliant 35-yard free-kick to give the visitors some consolation.

The result could have been even more comprehensive for City.

Michael Hall missed an early penalty after Stephen Husband had brought down Clark in the penalty area.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston, a guest of City chairman Mick Hoyle at last season’s President’s Cup final, was also at the game.

The following night City were held to a 1-1 draw at North West Counties Premier Division side Colne.

Andy Tinker gave the home side the lead inside the opening ten minutes before Billy McKenna equalised for the Dolly Blues ten minutes into the second half, keeping his cool to slot the ball past Colne ‘keeper Jamie Scott when through on goal.

The Colne ’keeper then went on to make a series of important saves late in the game to ensure the home side came away with a draw.
