Lancaster City Ladies FC are relaunching ahead of the new season.
The Giant Axe girls struggled to get a team together at times last year, but are now hoping to attract new players, fans and sponsors.
And with a new committee at the helm the future is looking a little brighter for the Dolly Blues’ women.
New secretary Moira Lamb said: “Sometimes there was trouble keeping numbers up last year.
“But we’ve formed a small committee and will be working hard on recruitment over the coming weeks.
“We’re targeting ladies who are maybe looking to get back into sport and who might have used to play football but have had children and don’t feel they have access to the sport now and want to keep fit.
“There’s also people who have always wanted to play football and never had the chance. We’ll welcome beginners.”
Moira hopes the new energy being put into the club means the ladies can thrive in the second division of the LFA Women’s County League.
She said: “More than anything we wanted to just make sure there was a team for this year.
“We don’t want the team to be hanging on we want people to come along and feel they are being look after.
“We’ve got a solid base of people but want to add a little bit extra to that.”
The ladies play their games on Giant Axe and train on the fields adjacent to the ground. The first session ahead of the new season takes place on Friday, July 19.
