Morecambe have agreed to extend the loan deal of Chesterfield winger Jamie Devitt until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Exeter meaning he was suspended for what was due to be the final game of his month-long spell against Oxford.
But after talks between Jim Bentley and Chesterfield boss Paul Cook the former Hull City player is set to remain at the Globe Arena until May.
Bentley said: “We’ve agreed to sign Jamie until the end of the season on loan.
“The ban did complicate things but I’ve had a good chat with Paul Cook and the deal does involve a 24-hour recall.
“They need that. If they get one or two injuries they might call him back and they might even do it if they just want to have another look at him.
“But at this present moment, he’s our player until the end of the season.
“Paul Cook’s a friend of mine and he’s done us a favour.
“Jamie’s a good player who has done well for us. We just need to get these next two games (of his ban) out of the way and he can come back into the squad and hopefully carry on where he left off.”
