Bentley: We got win our performance deserved

Jim Bentley was delighted to see his side produce their second good performance of the week to brush aside Barnet at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

Morecambe did everything but score as they dominated against Accrington Stanley in the goalless draw last Tuesday night.

And Bentley’s side carried that form into Saturday’s clash with Edgar Davids’ Bees, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes before two late Richard Brodie penalties sealed a convincing 4-1 win.

Bentley said: “I said before the game let’s take the momentum from the Accrington game where I think our performance deserved the three points.

“It wasn’t to be on Tuesday but we’ve done a lot of video analysis that showed that the stuff we’ve been doing is paying off and we certainly got out of the traps today and were worthy of being two goals to the good.

“We went it to a sloppy spell and I could just sniff that they could get back into the game.

“But we kept a clean sheet up to the break and addressed a few things at half-time and we’ve got the two penalties late on.

“On another day we could have had a couple more but I’ve got to be pleased with the win in front of our fans who were great today.

“The only sour note today for me was conceding late on, it would have been the fifth clean sheet at home in a row, but today’s all about being positive, we’ve scored four goals and got the three points our performance deserved.”
