Morecambe boss Jim Bentley sees no reason why his side can’t pull off a second straight win at Adams Park on Saturday.

The Shrimps’ solitary win in 13 meetings with Wycombe came on the road in April as Bentley’s men dented the promotion hopes of Gareth Ainsworth’s side with a 1-0 victory.

The Chairboys ultimately lost on penalties in the play-off final against Southend but three straight wins mean they sit fifth in League 2 ahead of the first game on 2016 at the weekend.

Bentley said: “Wycombe are a good side who had a great season last season.

“They’ve got good players in their ranks who are doing well.

“We’ll expect another tough game but they were one of the top sides last year when we won 1-0.

“And we know looking at the game earlier in the season when we got beaten 1-0 that it was very close.

“We’re expecting a tight game, a difficult game, but one that we’re capable of winning.

“Morale’s good and hopefully we can go there and take something from the game.”

The Shrimps’ preparations have again be hit by an inability to train on grass due to the recent bad weather.

Bentley believes there were signs of the training issues in the latter stages of the 2-2 draw at Notts County on Monday.

He said: “It’s very difficult.

“I don’t think we’ve been on grass for nearly a month now apart from the games we’ve played.

“We can’t affect the weather and we’ve just go to do what we’ve got to do.

“We’ve given them a couple of days off to rest over the festive period and I thought in the first half performance at Notts County they looked very fresh.

“But looking at the second half performance it could have been down to not doing the work we’ve needed to do of late.

“That’s not making an excuse, it’s a fact, we need to get on grass but with the weather we’ve been having it’s been difficult.

“We’re doing the best we can with what we’ve got available.”
