Morecambe have signed Manchester United youngster Liam Grimshaw on loan.
The versatile 19-year-old, who can play at right back, centre half or as a holding midfielder, was the Shrimps’ second signing on Thursday’s loan deadline day following Jordan Mustoe’s return to the Globe Arena from Wigan.
A former United Under 18 captain, Grimshaw has made two substitute appearances in the Barclays Under 21 Premier League this season and arrives at Morecambe on a youth loan.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “We played against United in a friendly a few weeks ago and Liam was part of their team.
“He is highly regarded and has a fantastic attitude and desire and I am delighted that we will have him with us for the rest of the campaign.”
To complete a busy day at the Globe Arena, Joe Mwasile joined Conference North side Barrow on a youth loan.
