TWO goals in the last 10 minutes brought an abrupt end to what had been a resolute performance by a Garstang team who were without the services of Pickles, Ross and Osbourne.
It was a lively first half with chances aplenty. Garstang were served a warning after only four minutes when Darby fired one over, then a good run by Couch found Wilson in the box. His turn and shot brought a good save out of home keeper Bradshaw.
Garstang were creating chances, Brooks shot narrowly wide from a corner, a Savigar free-kick wasn’t far away and Couch brought another good save out of the Eagley keeper.
However it wasn’t all Garstang. Kileen robbed Woodruff in the box but no one could get a touch as his cross fizzed across the goal. A free-kick by Hanlon hit the post and came out then Bancks went close to giving the hosts the lead.
Morris brought a third good save out of Bradshaw in the 35th minute before a spell of intense Eagley pressure up to half-time mainly brought on by some indifferent defending.
As has happened in recent matches Garstang found it difficult to raise their game for the second half, most of the second period belonging to the home team, Hanlon (twice), Killeen and substitute Warburton all going close before the all important opening goal after 80 minutes. Substitute Williams, who had just replaced Killeen, took a throw in that reached the far post for Reagan to head home.
After that Morris did have a good run and shot but it was Eagley who increased their advantage in the last minute when a sloppy back pass by Woodruff to McDonough fell short. The keeper kicked the ball against the oncoming Leece for the ball to end up in the net.
Garstang: McDonough, Woodruff, Helliwell, Bullock, Brooks, R Wilson Pennington, G Wilson (Stuart 65), Morris, Savigar (P Roskell 77), Couch.
