Cockerham U14s 9-0 Fishwick Rangers

SUNDAY saw the return fixture against Fishwick Rangers. The previous encounter had been a hard fought, close run game, so Cockerham were bracing themselves for another battle.

The first 10 minutes were even with little to choose between the sides then a free-kick from Dugdale gave Hilton the chance to break the deadlock.

Then came the whole team transformation, all round effort and determination on a very heavy sticky pitch brought the rewards. King’s sweetly struck, long shot gave the keeper no chance for the second goal, then Hilton and King both added another each before Timpany made it five at half-time.

The work rate and passing from every Cockerham player was fantastic to watch and despite the odd breakthrough chance, which Dugdale efficiently dealt with, Fishwick did not get a look in.

Hilton and Timpany added two more each to their tally, one coming from an individual run from Alexander who beat five players before crossing the ball for a tap in. Moore’s curling corner produced the final goal when Hilton headed home.

Man of the match went to George Gaughan. This means Cockerham stay unbeaten this season with five league matches remaining.
