Arnside pushed all the way in cup semi

IN THE Westmorland County Football Association Junior Cup Semi-Final, Arnside were expected to beat Lunesdale United with some ease but the Lunesdale side proved better opposition than expected.

The tie was even all the way through and after 90 minutes the score was 3-3. After another 30 minutes it was 4-4 and was only settled on penalties with Arnside winning them 5-4.

Lee Illingworth, Steve Pearson, James Kirkham and James Thornton scored the goals for Arnside. In the final Arnside will play the winners of Kendal United or Wetheriggs on Wednesday, April 13.

In the Black Dragon Senior Challenge Cup Fourth Round the match between Storeys and Carnforth Rangers was not a classic, but both teams gave everything.

Storeys opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Phil Oliver headed in a corner. As Storeys continued with its attacking policy goalkeeper Price came to Carnforth’s aid with two brilliant one-handed saves to keep his side in the game.
