Despite dominating for large periods the hosts put up a fantastic defensive display to keep Phil Brown’s side at bay until just after the hour mark.

Terry Cummings completed a thirty-minute hat-trick to steal the show alongside goals from Oliver Crolla and a penalty from Charlie Russell.

Goalkeeper Mike Hale was largely a spectator as Lancaster pressed and probed for openings in the first half.

Jacob Davis had two headed efforts palmed away before Joshua Westwood saw a goal-bound header cleared off the line, with shouts for a City penalty for handball turned away.

Cummings found the net after his introduction on 60 minutes with a fine first-time strike from 15 yards that found the right-hand corner of the goal.

After the deadlock was broken the chances flowed freely as Crolla scored his second in two games, converting from close range after a goalkeeping error left a gift for the winger two yards out.

Billy Akrigg then saw his lobbed effort beat the keeper but bounce off the bar before City got their third and the pick of the bunch.

Great passing play from midfield set Charlie Waters running down the right flank to send in a low cross towards the penalty spot and Cummings was in the right place to fire home.

Russell confidently converted a penalty to make it 4-0 after an unusual handball by an Euxton defender before Cummings rounded off his hat-trick in added time.

Capitalising on some poor defensive communication the striker took the ball off the feet of the defender, rounded the ‘keeper and slotted the ball into the net from a tight angle to wrap up another high-scoring game for the Dolly Blues.
